Lan shook his head sightly. 'He was better. But he thought I was finished, with only one arm. He never understood. You surrender after you're dead.'

The Admonitions of Sharfor

Many thanks to Sharfor for this great advice!! He plans to make it a semi regular thing, so check back later for additions!.

SHARFOR COMBO TIPS:
* Always play a character with dispel magic, and if possible, haste, unless it is pre-lab, in which case certain !dispel combos are OK.

* Almost any character can benefit from an unravel. It is perfectly appropriate, and recommended by me, to unravel ONCE before entering the Labyrinth. A second unravel will almost always be necessary for post-ARs who spend the minimum amount of points to learn all the skills and spells possible for their combo but then afterwards intend to specialize in a few elements only.

* There is no shame in making "easy" combos to send to the Labyrinth, especially if it is your first character. The Lab is challenging for any combo.

SHARFOR WARZONE ADVICE:
* When warzoning, consider the odds you have. If you greatly outnumber an enemy, it is bad form to sit with all your clannies in a block. Rather, you should aggressively pursue the enemy straggler.

* It cannot be stressed enough that during a Capture the Flag game, it is of utmost importance to monitor both your own switches and that of your enemy. A successful CTF players knows that while defending a flagbearer, if it looks like the odds are overwhelming against your team, it is not unadvisable to run from your own castle to open the enemy switches. This process should be executed quickly and efficiently and without fail. Just because your flagbearer is going down doesn't mean that your team's chances of victory should be over.

* Turn off your trigs when in a dueling setting. Most experienced warzoners have been the victim one time or another of being stamina-raped. There are barely any other more embarrassing things to happen to a serious dueler, since this is very avoidable by disabling trigs (or classes of assistance-trigs) during duels.

SHARFOR LORDLY MATTERS:
* Lord Morts, as obvious as they sometimes may be, should not be exposed, because sadly, oftentimes, interest in a Lord Mort is the main thing keeping the respective Lord behind the character active. Inactive-immortal-syndrome is far too common and exposing lord morts is a known risk factor for this syndrome.

* This tip is for the Lords: Group Quests can be just as challenging as solo quests and are often more fun for everyone involved. Administering more group quests also cuts the load on the amount of solo quests that are demanded. I do not think it would be so bad to see Group Quests replace Solo Quests as the main method of questpoint challenges.

GENERAL GAMEPLAY SUGGESTIONS:
* It is never worth deleting a character just because you get bad stats as an AR or an undesireable subrace. Take, for example, Zombie Lords. Once, they were one of the least effective subraces in the game, and after two rounds of changes, they are now one of the most powerful. Those who held onto their Zombie Lords rather than deleting them should be happy now. Deleting an undesireable AR does not show that you are hardcore, it merely shows that you are stubborn.

* Avoid depositing heartstones in your clanbank unless you have very focused building plans that specifically require the depositing of a heartstone. Often, clans will deposit a Pearl or Obsidian heartstone because they believe that it is not of much use to anyone. This is so wrong. Everyone can benefit from at least one or two Pearl and Obsidian Heartstones, especially ARs. These heartstones can bring minimum elements that you have racially to zero, effectively freeing up elements that you were not using to be applied to more useful elements. A specific example: A ba/wa uses two Obsidian Heartstones to take his minimum pearth (10) to 0, and adds +10 to his Pfire, giving him a better weaponmastery and defense against fireshield.

* One of the most polite things a player can do is to support labbers by auctioning them items of assistance (e.g., potions, scrolls, staffs).

* Respect the economy. It is generally not unreasonable for someone to price a maxxed item that took a significant amount of time to pop at 50k+.
